Die Bronzezeitliche Siedlung Cresta bei Cazis (GR): Die Tierknochen

Between 2300 and 800 BC a small village stood on the Cresta hill near Cazis in the Grisons Posterior Rhine Valley, which repeatedly fell into disrepair and was continuously rebuilt in the same location. Over the centuries, this resulted in the accumulation of massive deposits consisting of village ruins overlying each other.
The Cazis stratigraphic sequence was excavated by teams from the Swiss National Museum between 1947 and 1970. The investigation provided a wealth of information about the types of construction, crafts and trade relations of this small village community and is one of the most important sources in terms of the economic history of the Bronze Age in the Alpine region.

Rudolf Schnyder, der von 1961 bis 1996 als Konservator am Landesmuseum für die Keramik-Sammlung zuständig war, stellt in einer zweibändigen Publikation den Bestand aus der Sammlung des Schweizerischen Nationalmuseums an zürcherischer Ofenkeramik aus dem 14. und 15. Jahrhundert in all seinen Facetten vor. Zum einen ist es die prachtvolle Bilderwelt, die entschlüsselt wird, zum anderen liegt ein wichtiges Werk zu den Hafnern und ihren Werkstätten aus dem spätmittelalterlichen Zürich vor.

Entstehung Schweiz

This richly illustrated book focuses on the beginnings of Switzerland between the twelfth and the fourteenth centuries. The contributions have interesting stories to tell about chanceries and communes, markets and fairs, as well as feuds and battles, narrowing down the view from central Europe to the area of the Alps and finally to central Switzerland. Renowned specialists explain the emergence of Switzerland from an overall European perspective in short and easily comprehensible texts, applying a modern conception of history. The book is also the accompanying publication to the new permanent exhibition at the Forum of Swiss History in Schwyz.
