Analysis
Preparing a sample
A modern, flexible infrastructure capable of multiple
deployment provides answers to questions posed by conservator,
curators and archaeologists. Non-destructive or minimally invasive analysis by
means of micro X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, atom-absorption spectrometry,
and infra-red and Raman spectrometry makes it possible to perform both
qualitative and quantitative element analyses of inorganic and organic
materials. This in turn allows staff to determine the composition
of metal alloys, adhesives, pigments, colouring, precious and semi-precious
stones, products of corrosion and preservatives.
